About Patchogue, NY

Patchogue is a village town that is found on the south shore of Brookhaven, Long Island. It is part of Suffolk County, New York. The village is known officially as the Incorporated Village Of Patchogue. It is approximately 100km (60 miles) from Manhattan to the east. It was incorporated in the year 1893. It is a natural riverfront and harbor. The village has utilized these natural resources to become a modern community that is self sustaining.

Geography
The village is located on latitude point 40°45’48″N and longitude point 73°1’4″W. The area is approximately to have a total area of 6.5 square kilometers (2.5 square miles). 5.8 square kilometers (2.2 square miles) is comprised of land and 0.7 square kilometers(0.3 square miles) is water. Water is approximately 10.71% of the total area.

Demographics
According to the census statistics of 2000, Patchogue had 11,919 people, 2,749 families and 4,636 households. The area had a population density of 5,301.2 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the area at that time was: 81.72% of the population consisted of Whites, 3.89% was comprised of African Americans, 0.34% tge native Americans. Hispanics or Latinos of any race comprised of 23.84% of the population, 1.39% of the people were Asians, 0.02% were Pacific Islanders and 9.23% were from other races.

People under the age of 18 comprised of 22.5% of the population, 9.2% of the people ranges between 18-24, 37.1% forked the age bracket of 25-44. People between 45-64 were 20.7% and 10.5% were 65 and older. The median age was calculated to be 35 years. For every female that was aged 18 and over, there were 99.7 males in the same age group. For every 100 females generally, there were 100.4 males.
